Various parts of the country including sections in Nairobi and Kisumu came to a standstill as Azimo supporters took to the streets to protest.

Raila declared the start of mass action to mount pressure on the government to institute measures to lower the cost of living.

He had maintained that they will peacefully march to the State House to present their petitions to President William Ruto.

However, as of 2pm , Raila was nowhere to be seen in the protests.

Raila had earlier listed six reasons to justify his mega protest today.

This includes nepotism in the Kenya administration, failure to consult other stakeholders in the reconstitution of IEBC, broken promises, an illegitimate government, refusal by President Ruto to allow the audit of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC ) servers and the high cost of living after the government eliminated subsidies.

President Ruto, however, insisted that he will not allow any attempt by Odinga to "blackmail" the country, urging him to liaise with police over the planned demonstrations.
