Heavy rains that pounded Kisumu on Monday offered much-needed relief to police and hundreds of residents who were fed up with Azimio La Umoja demonstrations that brought the city to a standstill.

Agitated residents who had taken to the streets to heed ODM leader Raila Odinga's call for mass action had to take refuge after the City was occupied by rain.

The demonstrations had been going on for more than five hours by the time the rains started pounding.

After the rains were over, residents went about their own activities with shop owners visibly opening their businesses.

At the Kisumu boys round out, police were seated on the side just watching as people go about their businesses.

Other small-scale traders selling vegetable are also started to open up.

Vehicles are seen moving past the mounted road bloc.

Though PSVs were yet to resume normal operations by the time of going to the press.

Locals were seen in numbers and groups walking from work as others are on motorcycles heading home.
