Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed as empty talk claims by Azimio leader Raila Odinga that he convened a meeting on Tuesday evening to plan on how to disrupt Monday's demonstrations.

Speaking in Kisii on Friday, Gachagua termed Raila's remarks as political deceit and urged police officers to ignore the allegations.

"Our security officers ignore what Raila is saying. What he means he does not say and what he says he does not mean," the DP said.

"Akisema ati kuna watu wanapangwa, yeye ndio anapanga. Akiwaambia anakuja Kisii, tumungojee Bomet, tunamuelewa," he added.

(When he says there are people planning something, he is the one plannig. If he says he is coming to Kisii, we wait for him in Bomet, we know him)

On Thursday, Raila claimed that Gachagua alongside National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro were planning to unleash mayhem during Azimio's protests next week.

The Azimio leader alleged that Gachagua hosted a meeting at his Karen home to plan on how to disrupt the scheduled demonstrations.

According to Raila, the objective of the mayhem is to cause bloodshed and build evidence against him at the International Criminal Court.

"They invited several youths from different parts of the country to that meeting. That meeting turned out to be a strategy meeting to plan to counter the demonstrators on Monday," Raila said.

"The plan according to information we have is that these youth are going to be given uniforms similar to those of the MDD, Movement for Defence of Democracy, then they will mix with our youth and accompany them throughout the demonstrations."

Raila has announced demonstrations on Monday and Thursday next week.

Gachagua said it was understandable that Raila would say one thing while meaning the other, adding that they were ready for him.

In his response to the claims, Ichung'wah denied the allegations.

“I would only refer Tinga to my three-year-old daughter to tell him where I was on that Tuesday evening after I left Bunge,” he told the Star on phone.

On Friday, the Kikuyu MP admitted that they politically plotted against the Azimio leader.

"This time we are not plotting evil against him but politically I want to assure you that we shall continue planning on politics to unite Kenyans," he said.
