First Lady Rachel Ruto on Friday met with the founder of Africa Women Agribusiness Network Beatrice Gakuba.

AWAN is an African network of women-owned agribusinesses that brings together producers, processors, aggregators, export companies and input suppliers.

They agreed that the Office of the First Lady was going to work in collaboration with AWAN.

This is aimed at supporting women in agribusiness, focusing on areas such as financial inclusion, market access, trade facilitation and use of technology in agriculture.

As part of the collaboration, women in agribusiness will learn financial literacy and make connections with investors and financial institutions.

This will be facilitated through Mama Doing Good Organization.

The collaboration will also see to the sharing of information on local and regional markets, as well as the new opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA).
