Kenya is set to intensify its ties with Germany in areas of climate agenda.
This was announced on Tuesday by President William Ruto who is in Berlin, Germany.
The areas of interest include climate protection, the development of climate-compatible energy systems, and adapting to the consequences of climate change.
"Kenya values the rich and special friendship that it continues to enjoy with Germany," Ruto said.
The President added that Kenya was escalating this relationship to exploit the emerging opportunities and confront new challenges that face us.
Ruto was speaking during a dinner meeting hosted by the Deustech Afrika Stiftung and the German Bundestag in Berlin.
The Head of State will be the keynote speaker at the 2023 Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue where he will outline the challenges of security, the worsening climate crisis and the push for investments in renewable energy, green industrialization, and trade.
On Monday, Ruto held talks with the German Association of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses Markus Jerger, and Michael Schumann, chairman Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade where they agreed on approaches to bringing more German and international companies to Kenya.
While in Berlin, Kenya will also explore partnerships with Germany on the youth agenda, specifically in vocational education and training.
