Kisumu protester carries ugali, Omena meal to streets

A Kisumu protestor carrying a plate of Ugali and Omena during the Azimio anti-government protest on Thursday.

A Kisumu protestor on Thursday took to the streets to protest with his plate of Ugali and Omena.

The man whose identity is not known carried a plate of Omena and Ugali which he ate as he walked along the street with other protesters.

The protestor was heard saying "Baba (Raila) leta unga lorry ya Unga, watu wanakufa njaa (Raila bring a lorry full of unga, people are dying of hunger".

Also during the protest, locals had a giant catapult that they were using to hurl stones at the police officers during the protest.

Three of the protestors had to hold the catapult down  as two others pulled the bladder while aiming at the officers before releasing it.

The protesters started demonstrating at around 11 am.

Before then the lakeside City had remained relatively calm with most shops closed in anticipation of the anti-government protests.
