Angelo Kibet, 11, the Kipsebwo Primary School pupil in Nandi, who was reported missing by the Star on Wednesday has been found.
Kaptumo police officers tracked the boy to Chamase in Nandi and later to Mbere police station where a good Samaritan is reported to have taken him on Tuesday.
Kibet was later connected with his mother, Dorcas Chepkorir on Wednesday at the Mberere police station but was not released to her until after he was cleared from Kaptumo police station where the case of a lost child had been reported earlier.
A senior officer at Mberere police station said he could not believe Kibet had walked alone for more than 60 km without any assistance.
“He told me he walked up to Chemase, which is 60 km from Kaptumo. That is not possible. We are yet to investigate more what transpired after the boy claimed he went home and found their house door closed before taking a walk,” the officer said.
He said the boy spent the night with a watchman on Sunday at Chemase before he was handed over to an assistant chief who later handed him over to the police on Tuesday.
Chepkorir said the boy had later claimed he was carried away in a black car and dropped at the Chemase trading centre.
“Whatever the stories he is giving us, I am happy that we found my only child. How would I have faced my people at home without him?” asked Chepkorir.
