A senior cop in Gatundu who sought anonymity for fear of reprisal told journalists that enough officers have been deployed to man the home adding that more officers are on the lookout across the sub-county.

The officer said that the deployment comes after the Northlands City that is associated with the Kenyatta family along the Eastern bypass was invaded by over 2000 youths who stole livestock and lit fires.

“Officers are keeping vigil at Kenyatta’s home to prevent any eventuality that might arise. We don’t want what happened at Northlands to happen here,” the officer said.

This comes three days after dozens of unknown people on Monday raided Northlands City—Kenyatta family farm in Ruiru and destroyed property of unknown value.

The group was armed with power saws and machetes and felled a number of trees before escaping with an unknown number of sheep.

Witnesses said the gang gained access to the farm from the Kamakis side via the busy bypass.

The Kenyatta family is yet to speak on the invasion, however,  a day after the raid, police were deployed in the area.

A spot check at the home established that highly armed officers were patrolling the compound while normal business operations were ongoing at the village and in Gatundu Town.

The officer however urged Gatundu residents to go about their normal businesses without fear and urged them to remain peaceful to smoothly undertake their social-economic activities.

Since the anti-government protests began, the former President has not uttered a single word.

However, his party Jubilee has been actively participating in the protests.

Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has so far given the Inspector general of police Japheth Koome 14 days to investigate the top financiers and planners of looting and vandalism during the ongoing Azimio protests.

In a letter to Koome on Tuesday, Haji said he was concerned that while some people who destroyed properties had been arrested and arraigned, their inciters and planners have not been touched.

The DPP said he wants all the people involved in the backroom planning investigated and their files put before him.

"...you are hereby directed to undertake a comprehensive investigation [into the offences] and all persons responsible for planning, inciting instigating and financing commission of any offence and submit the investigation file within 14 days," he said.
