Police officers have been deployed to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s home in Ichaweri village, Gatundu South, amid fears of invasion.

Northlands Farm, which was invaded on Monday, is also being guarded by police officers.

A senior police officer in Gatundu, who sought anonymity, told journalists that enough officers have been deployed to man the Gatundu home and more are on the lookout across the subcounty.

At Kenyatta's home in Gatundu, armed officers were patrolling the compound while normal business was going on.

The officer urged Gatundu residents to go about their normal businesses without fear.

The officer said the deployment comes after Kenyatta family's Northlands City along the Eastern Bypass was invaded by more than 2,000 youths who stole livestock, felled trees and set it ablaze.

“Officers are keeping vigil at the Kenyatta’s home to prevent any eventuality that might arise. We don’t want what happened at Northlands to happen here,” the officer said.

The invasion happened on Monday, the same day the second Azimio protests were held.

On Thursday, the Azimio protests against the high cost of living continued in several parts of the country including Nairobi and Kisumu.

On Wednesday, Mutomo village, Gatundu, residents held protests urging the government to protect Kenyatta's family and property.
