The Wildlife Direct CEO and filmmaker Paula Kahumbu has expressed her joy after winning the Esmond B Martin Royal Geographical Society award for Conservative.
Kahumbu who received the award on April 3, said she was happy for winning it. She, however, still cries for Esmond's justice.
"I’m very happy about the award and also sad that Edmonds killers were never brought to book," she said.
Kahumbu is a Kenyan biologist and ecologist, and an inspiring and committed advocate for international wildlife conservation in Africa.
She is also the producer and presenter of Wildlife Warriors, Africa’s first wildlife documentary series.
The documentary seeks to transform conservation literacy in Africa by shining a light on the continent’s front-line conservationists and their work.
The prize is to celebrate the life and work of renowned geographer and conservationist Esmond Bradley Martin who died in 2018.
Kenya's ambassador to UK Manoah Esipisu joined other Kenyans in congratulating her on the fete.
"Congratulations to filmmaker and CEO Wildlife Direct Paula Kahumbu who received the Esmond B Martin Royal Geographical Society award for Conservative at a glittering ceremony in London last night. The event included a talk on the importance of data to drive conservation decisions," Esipisu said.
