Pistol recovered from drawer of deceased Red Cross driver

Police have taken custody of a pistol that was recovered from a drawer of a driver who worked with the International Committee Red Cross of Nairobi Logistic Support Centre.

The driver died on February 16, 2023.

The gun was recovered during routine clearance.

 
 

They unwrapped the polythene bag and found a firearm labelled Rambo 9mm with nine bullets.

It was then that they called the police who took its custody on April 5.

Police say they are investigating to establish if the late driver identified as Abdulal Mboya Juma Omondi was a licensed firearm holder.

Police handling the case said they had sent the weapon for ballistics tests as part of the probe into the recovery.
