Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary has come out to explain why the government has failed to meet some of its financial obligations.

" I can see there is an ongoing debate that the country is broke. It is not that there is no money, all the money is being eroded by debts. The debt that was taken, and some were taken haphazardly,  for some debts, the money has never been accounted for," Murkomen explained.

His statement comes at a time when civil servants as well as Members of parliament have decried they are yet to receive their March salaries.

Governors have also come out lamenting that they have not received funds to ensure the running of counties for four months now.

Going further , the CS gave assurance to Kenyans that all is well and that the government will come up with a solution to the economic crisis facing the country.

" I want to assure Kenyans, that there is nothing to be worried about in our country. These economic challenges you are seeing are those left to us by the previous regime and we will sort it out," Murkomen said.

The former Senator said that those who think the Kenya Kwanza government has failed because the government is currently facing a lack of funds crisis don't understand that the previous regime left them with a very hard task.

He said even Azimio Chief Raila Odinga should consider himself lucky he did not become the president as he would be facing a very challenging task due to the state of the economy.

" Raila should thank God and tell him to thank you for not making him President,  because had he been President, I don't even know where he would have begun from. Better our hustler who knows how to hustle he will know how to sort out the problem," Murkomen said.
