Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has urged Azimio negotiators to adjourn their announcement which is expected to take place on Thursday 13, 2023 at Emory Hotel.

Speaking in an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday, he said Azimio members should stop wasting time if they don’t believe in bipartisan talks.

“The fact that the talks have been agreed on that will take place then what they are announcing should be put on hold. It is a serious oxymoron. They verified and said we want talks to take place and they are the same ones who now want to start side shows at the expense of the talks,” said Khalwale.

He said that Azimio members should reflect on what they are doing when they say that they want to go back to demonstrations.

“They are now going back to Barazas and Kamukunji. It is their right. We cannot dictate to them what to do. But I ask them to go and reflect on what they are doing. If they do not believe in bipartisan talks then why waste time and resources inviting us to those talks,” Khalwale asked.

He said that their role as negotiators is to ensure that the country is at peace.

“To me, I have a lot of respect for what the president and Raila did. Both of them climbed down for the sake of peace, for the sake of the economy of the country,” said Khalwale.

He added that Azimio negotiators should go into the discussion room with the mind that Kenyans only want peace.

“And I will be calling upon my colleagues Senator [Edwin] Sifuna and others, that I admire them. They should now divorce themselves from their party leaders and walk into the room with their patriotism,” said Khalwale.

Azimio team of 7 negotiators are expected to make a major announcement on Thursday.

The seven are Senators Ledama Ole Kina of Narok, Edwin Sifuna of Nairobi, Enoch wambua of Kitui and MPs Amina Mnyanzi of Malindi, Millie odhiambo of Suba North, David Pkosing of Pokot South and Rarieda MP Otiende Amolo.
