Bungoma family seek justice over son's brutal murder

A family in Sunrise village, Kanduyi Constituency in Bungoma County is demanding answers after their son was brutally killed by unknown people in a house at Uwanja Ndege in Bungoma town.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Nancy Wakhungu, the mother, condemned the incident saying investigating bodies should establish who killed her son.

Wakhungu added that on Monday morning, she accessed information circulating online about a person who was found murdered in a house noting that she became suspicious about her son who stays in the same area.

Wakhungu said that she tried reaching her son on phone but the phone could not go through.

“My son has four sim cards, three for his personal use and one for the office operation,” she said.

She added, “I’m really saddened about the untimely death of my son, I invested much to ensure that he is finished school.”

She called on area governor Ken Lusaka, MP John Makali and Tongaren MP John Chikati to chip in and help the family fundraise and give their son a decent send-off.

She noted that the family has started funeral arrangements which will take place in Tongaren Constituency, Bungoma North.

She said that the thugs picked up the deceased’s phones, TV set and a laptop noting that all phones are off.

The deceased landlady, Eunice Makokha, told the Star that one tenant informed her husband about the death of Joel Watta adding that after receiving the information he took an initiative to move to the scene to ascertain the information.

She added that on reaching the scene, her husband spotted Joel’s body lying in a pool of blood in the house with a disarranged seat.

She said that the matter was reported at Bungoma police station.

The body was taken to Bungoma County Referral hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Makokha called on relevant authorities to move with speed and apprehend the killers.

While confirming the incident, Bungoma South OCPD, Wilson Muraya, condemned the bizarre incident affirming that the police have already launched investigations.

Muraya asked residents and the family to be vigilant as the probe continues.
