National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah has said the revelations made in the book Why Baba Is Not The 5th have vindicated their comments on massive looting that occurred in the Handshake era.
Speaking to the Star on Friday, Ichung'wah said the book has laid bare the true state of affairs in the former regime as they have been claiming.
"At least an insider in the handshake regime campaign team is now disclosing how they were also swindled off Campaign financing by the cartels in the regime then," he said.
The Kenya Kwana government has been blaming the Uhuru Kenyatta-led government for leaving empty coffers.
Last month, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that taxpayers’ money running into billions of shillings, including funds meant to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, was stolen by senior government officials days before the Kenya Kwanza administration took over power last September.
Speaking in Tetu Constituency in Nyeri County, the DP said public coffers were raided by the officials as the Supreme Court case against their victory was going on.
The book, authored by Lawyer Saitabao Ole Kanchory, highlights that Uhuru's brother, Muhoho Kenyatta, took active roles in the Azimio la Umoja Coalition campaigns.
He reveals that Muhoho was Azimio's host at the Westlands base command center and was referred to as "Mr money bag".
"He (Muhoho) chaired all strategy meetings at the command center whenever he was present and was the man who carried the big purse," Kanchory said.
The Kenya Kwanza team has been accusing the former President of financing the Azimio la Umoja campaigns during elections.
In addition, Ichung'wah said that Kanchory's book was a good wake-up call for Opposition leader Raila Odinga, branding his chief agent as the real whistleblower.
"This should also be a good wake-up call to Tinga to smell the coffee and stop tiring the country with allegations of ghost whistleblowers," he said.
"The REAL whistleblower is Kanchory who is telling him the truth about how he lost," Ichung'wah added.
