LPG site shutdown, 2 arrested for non-compliance

EPRA has indefinitely shut down one Liquefied Petroleum Gas facility in Kikuyu Sub County, Kiambu.

During a crackdown on illegal LPG sites conducted in the week, the facility was found to be operating without a license. 

Further, two suspects were arrested in Rongai, Kajiado County for cross-filling LPG in cylinders without authorization from brand owners. 

"A motorcycle and pickup were impounded as exhibits pending the prosecution of the culprits," EPRA said in a statement on Friday. 

The Authority was working on the operation jointly with a multi-agency security team inspecting several sites in Machakos, Nairobi, Kajiado, and Kiambu counties respectively.

The inspected sites in Machakos and along Mombasa Road in Nairobi were found to be compliant.

One site that had been closed down and operations ceased for non-compliance at the Industrial Area in Nairobi was opened upon compliance.
