Traders at the Isinya livestock market on Saturday arrested two of three suspected rustlers as they attempted to sell three cows.

The three had just arrived at the market when one customer was attracted to one of the cows and went ahead to ask for the price.

One of the rustlers said he was selling one of the black cows at Sh80,000. The buyer negotiated the price downwards up to Sh40,000.

In the process, the buyers sensed that the three suspects appeared uneasy. He wondered why a cow that was initially sold at Sh80,000 could be sold at half the price.

The three avoided questions and when they were asked where they brought the cows from, they started running.

Two of them were arrested and handed over to the police, while the third one escaped.

The owner of the three cows, Emmy Cherotich of Dalalekutuk had earlier reported her lost cows to the Kajiado Central police station and was advised to go to Isinya and identify her cows.

“I identified all three cows positively. They were stolen on the night of Friday. When I woke up on Saturday, the cows were missing,” said Cherotich.

The two suspects were transferred to Kajiado Central Police Station and were identified as the people who had stolen another cow in Dalalekutuk.

When the police asked them where they took the cow, they said it was sold in Isinya after they had stolen it.

The two will be arraigned on Monday in Kajiado.
