Members clashed after two people were proposed to assume office as UPA chairperson.

The nomination of the election of Nyambega Gisesa (Rigoma MCA)as chairperson triggered chaos after another faction proposed Evans Omwoyo.

The overseer of the elections sent by the Registrar of Political Parties had a difficult time restoring order as some delegates shouted towards the dais.

"If we fail to agree, we can't proceed, please let's proceed, there are people here who have been sent to cause chaos," Nyaribo pleaded with the delegates.

Mwoyo who ran for MCA in Ruaraka and Gisesa, the Nyamira Majority Whip, were forced to take turns to calm delegates as the situation appeared to go out of hand.

However, Gisesa was elected chairperson on acclamation.

Jacob Bagaka takes over as the new UPA secretary general.
