The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Chairperson nominee Bishop David Oginde has been urged not to let the country down when he takes the mantle as EACC chairperson.
Mbooni MP Erastuis Kivasu said that following parliamentary approval of Bishop Oginde’s nomination, he should upon assumption of office live up to the high expectations of Kenyans.
On Thursday, the National Assembly adopted the report of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee which recommended approval of his nomination to replace Archbishop Wabukala whose term expired in January.
“We wish him well and expect him to perform. We hope he will deliver on the high calling of his office and increase accountability in the utilization of public funds.” MP Kivasu said.
He was speaking on Friday at Kilyungi ABC Primary School in Mbooni, yesterday, during the funeral service for the late Tabitha Mbithuka, grandmother to Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi.
The legislator also decried the prevalence of corruption in the country and exuded confidence that the new EACC Chair will revamp the fight to mitigate its effects on the livelihoods of Kenyans.
The MP said Mbooni has recorded notable achievements through the National Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and called for accountability in the implementation of all development projects.
“With accountable and prudent utilization, the NCDF could tranform constituencies,” the MP said.
He announced that over Sh48 Million from the kitty has since been issued to needy students within Mbooni Constituency.
Speaking at the forum, former Rift Valley Provincial Commissioner Wilfred Ndolo decried the high number of senior citizens suffering neglect and called on Kenyans to always care for their aged parents.
He told mourners that without quality life, no person can reach attain long life like the deceased who died at the age of 104.
“Many aged persons in our communities lack basic access to food and health care. Families should take the primary responsibility to take care of their aged parents, even as they look forward to government social protection programs,” Ndolo told the mourners
