Televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero's wife has spoken amidst the controversies surrounding her husband.

In a video seen by the Star, Sarah Odero announced that the church will be temporally closed for a few days to pave way for investigations.

"We will not have prayer services at this church because it is good that we give the government enough time to investigate the ongoing issues besieging churches that have been reported on social media and news," she said.

She urged the congregants not to be worried because it is nothing big and they will resume services once the investigation is done.

"It is not only about New Life church but many other churches. To those on social media I urge you to continue praying hard,” Sarah said.

This comes after the controversial pastor Ezekiel of New Life Prayer Centre and Church was arrested on Thursday morning over an alleged indoctrination of the public.

This came just days after he was grilled for hours over cultism, claims that he disputed.

Briefing the media Coast Regional Commissioner Rhodah Onyancha said that various deaths have been reported on the pastor’s premises and some recorded in morgues that may be linked to him.

Pastor Ezekiel will remain in police custody until Tuesday next week when the court will give a ruling on whether it will allow police to hold him for 30 days.

He will be detained at Makupa police station.

The state was seeking orders to detain Odero for 30 days to enable them complete investigations into the alleged murder and aiding suicide among other offences at his church in Mavueni.

In an affidavit filed at the Shanzu law courts, the state says its undertaking investigations relating to serious crimes suspected to have been done by Odero which include murder, aiding suicide, abduction, radicalization, child cruelty, fraud and money laundering.

According to court documents, Odero is the founder and preacher of New Life Prayer Center in Mavueni which offers social amenities including international schools, a petrol station, a hotel and accommodation for staff.
