Police now claim that some bodies that have been exhumed from the Shakahola Forest may have been brought from Pastor Ezekiel Odero's church in Mavueni.

In an affidavit sworn by Assistant Superintendent of Police George Muriuki, the state claims that they believe that some bodies were being transported from Mavueni to be buried in Shakahola.

The intelligence information further reveals that upon the demise of the innocent and vulnerable followers of Odero, their bodies were preserved at a privately run morgue in Kilifi.

According to court papers, they were later transported and interred in Shakahola Forest.

"This information is subject to ongoing investigations,” reads court papers.

They have also said they have credible information linking the bodies exhumed from the 800-acre piece of land in Shakahola with several followers of the ministry who are believed to have met their death in their quest for divine healing at the intervention from Odero.

This, according to the investigation team, has triggered a police probe.

Police further claim that from intelligence, they have also established that several deaths occurred within the Odero’s New Life Ministry church at Mavueni.

They claim 16 deaths have been reported in Kilifi police station between 2022 and 2023 and each has an OB.
