Police on Sunday arrested four armed male suspects at Nuno, Garissa County.
They were found in possession of four firearms, 19 rifle magazines, about 500 rounds of ammunition, and several mobile phones.
"This follows swift action by NPS Officers from Garissa Police Station in collaboration with the Border Police Unit which led to the interception of a white Toyota Probox at Nuno area, with 4 male occupants," NPS tweeted.
According to the police, they were all donning military gear, each armed with an AK-47 rifle and with hundreds of ammunitions.
Also recovered were a balaclava, a ballistic helmet, a knife, and a machete.
The motor vehicle is detained, and the four are awaiting arraignment in court as investigations continue.
"The National Police Service would like to appreciate members of public that tipped the Officers with the information which led to the success of this operation."
