Kajiado Senator Kanar Seki has lauded the move by ODM Governor Joseph Lenku to appoint a Kenya Kwanza member to his cabinet.
In an exclusive interview with the Star, Kanar said Lenku’s CEC member nominee for Trade, Judy Pere, from UDA is a good gesture in the right direction.
“In this regard, I thank Lenku for nominating Pere from the UDA ranks to become the CEC Member of Trade,” said Kanar.
He said the belated rapprochement by the governor is a step in the right direction, for which he commends him.
“We shall assist Pere and others to obtain the support of the county assembly,” said the senator.
Senator Kanar spoke a few hours after Lenku announced the appointment of Ephantus Kimotho, from Ngong, as the principal secretary in the state Department of Forestry.
“I am glad to have joined the deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, and other top government officials from both the national and county levels in celebrating the appointment of PS Kimotho, who hails from Ngong Ward in Kajiado North,” said Lenku.
Lenku also used the opportunity to thank President William Ruto for unveiling the construction of 65 km of roads in Kajiado North on Friday.
“I was happy to join President Ruto, his deputy Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi during the unveiling of the road projects in Ongata Rongai,” said Lenku.
The construction works were unveiled by the president for the Maasai Lodge - Nazarene University to Rimpa, Ongata Rongai - Gataka - to Embulbul, Cooperative College - Matasia Nkoroi; and other short ones.
Lenku said already, more than 20 km of roads are complete and what is remaining is only 40 km.
The governor reiterated his earlier stand that his government will work with the president for the realisation of more projects.
The Azimio governor said there is no time for politics and called on his people to go back to the farms and produce enough food.
Lenku said during the last drought his people suffered a great deal as nearly all their livestock died.
“Let us now focus on rebuilding what we lost in the drought. Let us plant hay and plant a lot of food as we move forward,” said Lenku.
