Anti-riot police officers have been heavily deployed as several business premises closed ahead of the Azimio protests.

In apparent fear of attack on the businesses, business owners have closed their shops along major streets and malls.

The even busy Jamia Mall remained deserted as shops remained closed.

Only a few people could be seen outside the closed shops.

The situation was the same along Kenyatta Avenue, Muindi Mbingu and Koinange Street.

The police were armed with teargas canisters, rungus and guns as they patrolled the streets.

The officers have also been deployed outside anniversary towers, the headquarters of the IEBC where the opposition intends to drop a petition.

A lorry full of police officers was stationed outside the premises.

A Jevevanjee Gardens, the officers took over the entire place. No one is allowed to sit on the benches or converge there.

This was the case with the Treasury building where several officers have been deployed.

Parliament has also been heavily guarded with several officers stationed outside the Parliament Buildings.

People were unusually few in the CDB with no traffic jams.
