The Amani National Congress party has announced Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba as the new secretary general.
Omboko will take over from Simon Gikuru who was appointed CAS by President William Ruto.
Gikuru is currently a Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communications and Digital Economy.
Speaking after his appointment, Milemba thanked the ANC leadership for having confidence in his leadership ability.
The Emuhaya MP said his immediate task would be to revamp the party, an exercise that will begin on Friday.
"Two we shall undertake the revamping of the party beginning tomorrow. We shall be meeting all organs of the party in their totalness and after that move to meet the branch leaderships around the country through a caravan," Milemba said.
He also dispelled any reports of the ANC party merging with other parties within Kenya Kwanza.
The legislator insisted that the party will remain independent, but will run its affairs under the umbrella of the ruling coalition.
"As I come to take charge as secretary of the party, two things have come out clearly from our meeting, which need to be highlighted; One, the party will remain an independent operating all its institutions within the larger coalition of Kenya Kwanza," Milemba said.
Upon Gikuru's resignation, ANC party leader Issa Timamy announced Vihiga county MP Beatrice Adagala is the Secretary-General in an acting capacity.
"Our former secretary general went for CAS interviews and you are required to resign. So we had Amani Council Bureau meeting in Lamu and resolve to appoint Adagala," Timamy said.
Adagala has served as acting SG for the party for less than two months.
