Ex-CITAM presiding Bishop David Oginde will on Tuesday take oath of office as the new Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chairperson.

Oginde will be taking over from retired Archbishop Eliud Wabukala who has been EACC boss for the past six-years.

His term expired on January 17, 2023. Holders of the office serve for a one six-year term.

The ceremony will be presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome at the Supreme Court of Kenya.

Oginde's swearing in comes a day after it was postponed. It had initially been scheduled for May 8.

On March 11, President William Ruto forwarded Oginde's name as the nominee for the EACC position to the National Assembly for consideration.

The nomination followed a competitive recruitment process by the Public Service Commission. Fourteen candidates had expressed interest in the position.

The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee in April approved the nomination of the former presiding bishop of CITAM to head the anti-graft body.

The report on his approval was tabled in the National Assembly on April 18 for debate, by JLAC chair and Tharaka MP, Gitonga Murugara.

Bishop Oginde is also the immediate former Chancellor of Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University.

He holds a PhD in Organizational Leadership from Regent University School of Business and Leadership, USA and a Master's Degree in Leadership from Pan Africa Christian University.
