Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has lashed out at the government for pushing to increase taxes and overburden the taxpayers.

Speaking in Kangemi on Monday, the lawmaker said Opposition MPs will not pass the proposed Finance Bill 2023, into law when it will be tabled for debate in Parliament.

"As MPs, we will not allow that bill to pass in Parliament," Wanyonyi said.

The MP said that the government should instead create an enabling business environment to empower Kenyans before rushing to increase taxes.

Wanyonyi said that the plan by the Treasury to impose taxation on luxury and beauty products is a ploy to stifle the youth's ambitions to engage in meaningful business.

The MP added that Azimio MPs who have jumped ship and joined the Kenya Kwanza coalition must resign and seek a fresh mandate from the people.
