Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie ' KJ' has been sent into mourning after losing his father on Tuesday.
Making the announcement on his social media platforms on Wednesday, KJ said he his father, David Waweru Ng'ethe succumbed to cancer.
"The Lion has rested. Dark, dark hour... As the 3 o’clock late afternoon sun battled with a stubborn dark cloud, for superiority in the skies, a stubborn dark cancer struck a final mortal blow. Death is so final, it is unbelievable," he wrote.
His late father was a former Kandara MP and unsuccessfully vied for the presidency three times.
The second-term legislator also shared a Bible verse"Grief pierces to the core. Acts 13:26"
Waweru was the fourth MP for Kandara, Murang'a County from 1981 to 1983 following the nullification of election of the late Ndung'u Mwicigi.
However, he decided to go for the presidential seat in 1997, 2002 and 2007 elections but he performed terribly in the three polls.
In the 1997 elections, he used Chama Cha Umma but out of 15 candidates he was last with 3, 584 votes out of 6.1 million votes cast.
In 2002 he was at it again but out of five candidates he tailed with 10, 061 votes out of 5.8 million votes cast.
He did not give up. In the 2007 bungled elections he tailed again. There were nine contestants. He garnered 5, 976 votes out of a total 9.8 million votes.
