Morocco's Youth, Culture, and Communication Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid has reiterated the Kingdom's commitment to strengthening its relationship with African countries.
This, according to Bensaid is in a bid to foster the emergence of the youth in the development of the continent.
Speaking during the African Ministerial Conference on Youth in Rabat, Morocco, Bensaid stressed the youth's role in the social economic and political development agenda of Africa.
He also highlighted the efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco in the implementation of the African Youth Charter.
The Youth minister reiterated the commitment to strengthen the South- cooperation which is at the centre of the foreign policy of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The conference brought together Youth ministers from African countries, including over 100 young leaders, representatives of National Youth Councils, civil society, and African youth platforms.
Bensaid insisted on the need to reconsolidate the place of the Pan-African Youth Union in the continental decision-making bodies, in order to carry the voice of African youth and provide real solutions to the problems of African youth.
The President of the Pan-African Youth Union, Moumouni Dialla noted the importance of the ratification of the African Youth Charter which aims to protect young people against discrimination and guarantees them freedom of movement, speech, association, religion, property, and other human rights.
It also commits to promoting their participation in society, he said.
African Ministers participating in this ministerial conference as well as the heads of the delegation stressed the need to preserve this institution and to further enhance its contribution to continental decision-making.
They insisted on the importance of the Pan African Youth Union as a continental body advocating for the establishment of sound public policies for African youth.
Dialla thanked His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him, for the warm welcome given to the participating delegations and the living and working conditions offered to them during the conference.
He also commended the King for his leadership, which is in favour of the African youth.
