National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has commended Defence CS Aden Duale on his book For The Record whose launch is on Thursday.

He said from the prologue, he knew the book was extraordinary and a masterpiece. Wetang'ula received his copy of the book from Duale on Wednesday.

"The quality is world class. “For The Record” is historic – the first book in our country by the first Leader of Majority Party in the National Assembly," he said.

The former Bungoma senator said it was "momentous" that Duale wrote a book narrating the Kenyan politics with wit, contextual history and remarkable humour.

"He vividly portrays political betrayal, deceit and hypocrisy in shocking detail, while also shining a light on the moral dilemma that faces many political leaders," he said.

The Speaker noted that politicians are ever juggling political survival and party politics with public interest and national interest, something that Duale portrays how he navigated both.

He further said the book had affirmed his belief in Duale's courage, honesty and unwavering sincerity.

This, he said, was in the chapters narrating the former Majority Leader's personal story about his growing up, schooling and career as a businessman and a politician.

He recommended For The Record to those interested in learning more about the country's transformation, saying it has crucial lessons in political leadership.

"If anyone wants insights into how Parliament makes laws; how the Executive and the Judiciary work with the Legislature and how public interest, national interest and political survival determine national priorities, this is a guide to that political mud-wrestling ring," he said.

Wetang'ula said there was need for books similar to Duale's to be written.

"I am looking forward to the official launch tomorrow," he added.

For The Record will be launched on Thursday at The Serena Hotel at 4pm.
