Kenya Revenue Authority document has shown that Pastor Ezekiel Odero New Life Prayer Centre and Church has been compliant in filing tax returns.

The document dated June 2022 and shows that Ezekiel's church had settled all tax dues.

"This is to confirm that New Life Prayer Centre and Church, Personal Identification Number P051523861H, has filed relevant tax returns and paid taxes due as provided by law," it reads in part.

"This certificate will be valid for 12 months up to June 28, 2023."

The emergence of the certificate comes a day after Attorney General Justin Muturi revealed that the church has never filed annual returns.

His office said the church had met all conditions at the time of registration but has not filed tax returns in recent years.

The AG made the disclosures on Wednesday during a meeting with the Senate ad-hoc committee probing deaths in Shakahola, Kilifi County.

The New Life Prayer Centre faces closure for failing to file tax returns for the past 10 years.

The church is facing closure after the Registrar of Societies wrote a show-cause letter for failing to comply with some regulations.

The Star tried reaching out to KRA for confirmation or clarification on the document but never received any reply on the same at the time of publishing this article
