Preparations for the final journey of Field Marshall Mukami Kimathi are in top gear ahead of her burial on Saturday, May 13.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo who chairs her funeral committee, visited Mukami's home in Njabini on Friday to evaluate the progress of burial preparations.
The home was a bevy of activities as workers worked tirelessly to erect tents as others worked on the grave.
President William Ruto is among senior leaders who are expected to grace the funeral.
The widow of the revered Mau Mau freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi died last week aged 96.
Omollo said on Wednesday that there will be a body viewing opportunity for the public at the Lee Funeral Home on Saturday morning between 6-7am before the body leaves for Njabini in Nyandarua County
Mukami died on Thursday, May 4 at the Nairobi Hospital where she was rushed at night after developing breathing difficulties.
