Lawyer Miguna Miguna was Monday heckled as he walked away from a funeral in Oyugis, Homa Bay county.
Miguna had addressed the funeral during which he attacked ODM leader Raila Odinga for "denying" the Nyanza region the fruits of multiparty democracy.
In his address, Miguna maintained that it is time the community accepts that William Ruto is the legitimate president of Kenya.
"I say here that we must embrace multiparty democracy. And we must also accept that William Ruto is the president of Kenya whether you like it or not," he said.
He said Raila had forced the region to subscribe to a single party, ODM, yet the multiparty democracy dictates that everyone has a right to belong to a party of choice.
"We fought for multiparty democracy. It's unfortunate we (Luos) now through Raila don't want to embrace the multiparty by wanting us to be into one political party. The reason why we fought for multiparty democracy is so that everyone in Kenya can enjoy the fruits of independence," he said amidst heckling.
"But right now, the people of Nyanza are not enjoying the fruits of independence because of one man called Raila Odinga. I have said it," Miguna added as he handed over the microphone.
Video seen by the Star showed the lawyer walking out of the funeral amidst uproar from a seemingly irate gathering that was telling him to go away.
Those who spoke in the video told off Miguna for opposing ODM Leader Raila Odinga.
"Go away. You can't compete with Raila Odinga. Raila is not your age mate," the rowdy group was heard chanting as Miguna walked out.
