Operations at the border town of Malaba have been paralyzed after truck drivers and clearing agents downed their tools.
They are protesting a decision by the Ugandan government to block empty cargo trucks returning to Kenya from passing through the Malaba border.
The empty trucks, according to a policy of the Ugandan government, are to pass through the Lwakhakha border, a development they say is expensive for them.
Truck drivers on their part say the Lwakhakha route is longer.
They now want the Ugandan government to suspend the policy.
The striking drivers and clearing agents have blocked Kenya's exit to Uganda bringing to a halt the movement of cargo across the border.
