Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando now says that President William Ruto has shown signs of good deeds.

Speaking on Wednesday, Kabando said going by President Ruto's recent actions, he might be up to something good.

“Early impressions are that Ruto may be up to something good,” he said.

However, the former MP opined that Ruto’s good impressions should go beyond the Kemsa heist and address other matters.

“ If only he escalated the graft purge beyond the Kemsa heist. If only he uprooted tribalism,” Kabando added.

On Sunday, President Ruto pledged to take bold action on Kemsa following allegations of a scandal regarding the supply of mosquito nets.

As a result, Ruto sacked Health PS Josephine Mburu and the whole of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (Kemsa) board over the Sh3.7 billion mosquito net deal.

The development could leave millions of low-income households at risk of contracting Malaria, a deadly disease that kills an estimated 12,000 people yearly in Kenya.

On Thursday, Ruto's government suspended 27 officials in connection with the illegal sugar.

The sugar in question was imported to the country in 2018 but was flagged by KEBS over the expiry date specification.

Kebs marked the 20,000-50 kgs bags of sugar as unfit for human consumption.

Going further, Kabando noted that Kenya is a rich country that’s why top world leaders are trooping to Kenya.

“Kenya is a very rich country. Exactly why the whole world is trooping (into Kenya). Today's visit by Singaporean PM is the most instructive yet,” Kabando added.

Also, Colombia's Vice President Francia Elena Márquez Mina was in Kenya this week for a four-day state visit.
