President William Ruto has pledged a total of Sh300,000 million to fast-track the construction and upgrading of two hospitals in Murang'a County.
He said Sh100 million was going to fund the Bilhad Kagia hospital in Kandara.
The money will add to the Sh20 million allocated by the county for the project.
"Bwana Irungu Kang'ata ameniambia ameweka pesa millioni ishirini. Nitakuongeza kutoka serikali ya kitaifa millioni mia moja," he said.
This loosely translates to; "Mr (Murang'a Governor) Irungu Kang'ata has told me he has set aside Sh20 million. I will add Sh100 million from the national kitty".
Ruto spoke on Friday during the funeral service of Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie's father David Waweru at Kiranga primary school grounds in Kandara.
Further, the President has said he will give Sh200 million for the upgrading of a hospital in the Kenol area.
The county has set aside Sh50 million for the same.
"I will add you Sh200 million. Sh100 for construction and the other Sh100 million for equipment," Ruto added.
He reaffirmed that the Kenya Kwanza government was going to roll out developments across all counties.
This will include the construction of 100 major dams in the country, with the Maragua 4 Dam being among the priorities.
Ruto said the state has already advertised the tenders for the first 33 dams.
"We are still doing a visibility study and drawings on the others," he added.
This is aimed at ensuring that households get easy access to clean water.
"One of our priority areas is to bring water to the people of Kenya," Ruto said.
