Former Kajiado Central MP and assistant minister David Sankori on Saturday married Tanzania’s Martha Ntoipo in a classic wedding.

The colourful ceremony took place at his Isara home in the Mashuuru sub-county and was attended by the county’s political elites led by Governor Joseph Lenku.

Ntoipo, the newest wife of the Kanu era politician, Sankori, hails from Tanzania’s Longido district.

The wedding happened almost two years after Sankori lost his wife, Susan, 70, in September 2021.

Thousands of guests from Kenya and Tanzania attended the ceremony in which Lenku was the chief guest.

Kajiado County assembly speaker Justus Ngossur led his MCAs to the colourful occasion.

“We are happy Sankori now has a companion. It was exciting to join thousands of well-wishers to set off the new couple for their new life,” said Lenku in praise of his political adviser.

“I wish the couple God's blessings, understanding and peace in all their endeavours as they navigate their marital journey.”

The hundreds of guests in attendance were told not to leave the ceremony until they eat all the food.

The veteran Rift Valley politician, Sankori, before the country’s general election of 2022 boldly faced Deputy President then, William Ruto, and advised him to meet former President Daniel Moi urgently if he hopes to advance his political career.

Sankori noted that the bitter rivalry between Ruto and then-Baringo Senator Gideon Moi could harm Ruto’s quest for the presidency.

The experienced politician advised that for Ruto to achieve anything in 2022, he needed the blessings of former president Moi, who died later before the general elections.

Sankori who once served as an assistant minister even volunteered to lead the mediation talks to unite the two politicians who had declared interest in the 2022 presidential race.

The former Baringo Senator Moi later dropped out of the race.

He [Sankori] stated that, "We also believe Ruto can make a good leader and this is the reason we are asking him to seek Moi's blessings which he badly needs."

"I am ready to be part of the reconciliation team. We need a serious team of elders from Rift Valley to travel to Kabarak to meet with Mzee Moi."

However, Moi passed on and the negotiations never took place but Ruto triumphed in the following elections to become the country’s 5th president after trouncing opposition leader, Raila Odinga.
