Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday hosted two envoys and a European Union delegation who paid him a courtesy call in his office in Nairobi.

The envoys included US and Switzerland ambassadors to Kenya Meg Whitman and Valentin Zellweger respectively.

The EU delegation was led by Bernard Quintin, Deputy Managing Director of Africa.

"The representatives and the delegation deliberated on the current operational situation, progress made and their support for the ongoing political process of finding lasting peace and stability in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)," Uhuru's office said in a dispatch via Twitter.

It said Uhuru also received a report from his technical advisors on the DRC peace process in his capacity as the Facilitator of the East African Community (EAC)-Led Nairobi Peace Process.

The report followed a meeting with the East African Community Monitoring and Verification Mechanism held earlier in the day.

Remarkable progress has been made in restoring peace in eastern DRC where North Kivu has enjoyed relative peace and reduction of violence since the peace process started although the situation remains volatile.
