A suspected thug was Sunday morning shot and killed in a botched robbery in Kasarani area, Nairobi.

Police said they were alerted about suspects who were attacking and robbing pedestrians in Roysambu area before they laid an ambush.

It was then the team confronted two suspects as they attacked and robbed female pedestrians of their valuables.

The team shot and killed one suspect while his accomplice managed to escape on foot, police said.

A homemade gun, two knives, four mobile phones and a lady’s handbag were recovered from the slain man.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they have launched a hunt for the other suspect who escaped.

He said they have enhanced patrols to address cases of insecurity.

His motorcycle was missing at that time, police said.

Police suspect the attackers were targeting the motorcycle and that he was killed after he resisted.

The body was taken to a local mortuary for an autopsy before it was handed over to the family for burial after the Sunday afternoon incident.

A hunt on the attackers is ongoing, police said.
