A 19-year-old man was on Tuesday arrested in Nyeri while in possession of a homemade gun and rolls of bhang.
Police also arrested one suspect and seized uncustomed goods during a patrol along the Kagio-Sagana highway.
"At around 1am today, police officers on patrol along the Kagio-Sagana Highway intercepted a vehicle suspected to be transporting uncustomed goods, and seized 200 crates of alcohol."
The Director of Criminal Investigation Mohamed Amin said in a statement via Twitter that police also seized 50 cartons of a locally manufactured spirit after intercepting a truck that was transporting the goods from Nairobi to Kagumo.
"The two suspects in both cases are in police custody. The National Police Service wishes to thank members of the public for their continued support through community policing," the DCI boss said.
The seizure of alcoholic drinks and bhang is part of the ongoing crackdown on second-generation alcohol and drug use in the larger Mt Kenya region where a huge percentage of youth have suffered the brunt.
On Saturday, May 27, police arrested two women in relation to the manufacture of illicit brews in Kiambu County following an operation in the Gitaru area.
Police recovered several boxes of suspected counterfeit alcoholic drinks with different brand names.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who is spearheading the crackdown said on Sunday the war on illicit brews and bhang in Mt Kenya is 70 per cent won.
"We are remaining with 30 per cent. There are people who are saying that we will get tired, we are telling them the battle is for the next five years," he said.
