KNH to dispose of unclaimed bodies in a fortnight

The Kenyatta National Hospital intends to dispose of all unclaimed bodies from its morgue in two weeks time.

On Tuesday, the hospital called on Kenyans to go through a list of 238 named bodies at their morgue.

"The Kenyatta National Hospital is in possession of a number of unclaimed bodies at its Farewell home," the hospital said.

The announcement came out with the hospital saying it is only acting in compliance with Public Health Act Cap 242 Subsidiary legislation Public Health Public Mortuaries rules, 1991.

"Pursuant to the Act, interested members of the public are therefore requested to identify and collect the bodies within 14 days," the hospital declared.

Kenyatta National Hospital said they will seek authority from the courts to dispose of bodies that will not be claimed in the two weeks grace period given.

This is not the first time the hospital is moving to dispose of unclaimed bodies.
