Kalonzo consoles Moody Awori following daughter's demise

Wiper leader and Azimio co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has joined other leaders in mourning the demise of Marya Elizabeth Adjibodou, daughter of former Vice President Moody Awori.

Marya died on the evening of June 6, 2023, but news of her death was made public on Wednesday, June 7 by Speaker Amason Kingi.

Kalonzo said his heart aches for the former VP whom he described as his elder brother over the loss of his cherished daughter.

"Her exceptional work ethic, diligence and commitment to public service were in equal measure mirrored by her warm and thoughtful personality belying her years," Kalonzo said via a statement on Twitter Wednesday evening.

Marya worked as a Principal Clerk Assistant I, in the Directorate of Legislative and Procedural Services in the Senate.

She joined the Parliamentary Service on December 6, 2005, as a Personal Assistant in the then office of the Vice President and Leader of Government Business.

"My family and I are praying for the Lord’s love and guiding strength for you and your family, indeed as for Marya’s colleagues at the Senate, and friends at this most difficult time," Kalonzo said in his condolence message to Mzee Awori.

Earlier, National Assembly speaker Moses Wetang'ula and Kanu chairman Gideon Moi had also sent their condolences.
