Interior PS Raymond Omollo has urged Kenyans to accord President William Ruto the respect he deserves in his position.

Speaking on Thursday during the burial of Trade CAS  Evans Kidero's uncle Jesus Clement Owino in Homa Bay, the PS said Ruto was duly elected just like governors, MPs and other political leaders.

The PS spoke on various matters of interest to Kenyans including the controversial Finance Bill 2023 and Shakahola mass murder.

Omollo praised the proposed Bill noting that there is an excess of five million unemployed Kenyans which it seeks to create job opportunities for.

President William Ruto has remained steadfast in pushing for the enactment of the Bill despite growing opposition saying it will not only give Kenyans decent living conditions, but it will create about a million jobs annually.

In his speech during the national prayer breakfast at Safari Park Hotel on Wednesday, Ruto called on leaders to feel the pain a majority of Kenyans, especially the youth, are currently facing.

"If we feel the pain of the three per cent, it is because we are alive. If we feel the pain of the millions of young people looking for jobs, of seven million Kenyans who live in indignity in slums, then we are human beings," he said.

Among the provisions in the Bill that have caused uproar is the three per cent mandatory Housing Fund levy for affordable housing project.

On the Shakahola incident, Omollo said a task force has been set up to ensure going forward, there is regulation of religious activities in the country to avert a repeat of exploitation of innocent Kenyans by criminals disguised as legitimate preachers.

The burial was attended by Kidero, ICT and Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo, Homa Bay County Commissioner Moses Lilan, Rachuonyo North DCC Aaron Koross and local NGAO officers among others.
