Singer Esther Akoth popularly known as Akothee has reacted to the revocation of her appointment to the Talanta Hela council.

Sports CS Ababu Namwamba on Friday revoked the appointments of Carol Radul, Dennis Itumbi, Azziad Nasenya, Daniel Ndambuki, Esther Akoth and others in the Talanta Hela council and technical committees.

In a video she shared on her social media,  Akothee said that the decision will now give her haters something to smile about.

My haters will now celebrate. Today they will find a reason to sleep and the way I don't want these people to sleep. How do you wake up and revoke my appointment just like that and you know I have haters who are looking up to my achievements?" she posed.

"How can I just wake up with bad news, the way the year began so well mmmmhh? And the way I kept my haters on my toes."

Akothee had been appointed as a member of the creatives committee.

Other members of the committee included veteran media personality Jimmi Gathu, Catherine Kamau, and musician Wahu Kagwi.

In a gazette notice on Friday, the CS revoked the appointments he had made earlier in the wake of the controversy surrounding the members of the council.

"It is notified for the general information of the public that the cabinet secretary for youth affairs and arts has revoked Gazzete Notice number 1649 of 2023," the notice read in part.

The Council was to be chaired by Churchill.

The decision taken by the CS came following a court ruling which suspended the implementation.

In a ruling dated May 23, High court judge Lawrence Mugambi issued the orders granting the Sports Ministry 14 days to put their house in order and respond to the petition and application filed.

The order was issued after a petition was filed by an advocate of the High Court Charles Mugane.

According to Mugane, the appointments were politically engineered to reward cronies while ignoring qualified Kenyans.
