Police arrest suspect in viral robbery video

DCI believes he's a gang crew who snatched a sling bag from a foreigner on Ngong Road.

Police on Wednesday arrested a suspect linked to a robbery incident on Ngong Road which was captured on CCTV.

In a statement, the DCI said the suspect was captured on footage while violently robbing a foreigner in the video that has since gone viral.

"In the footage that has made rounds on social media for several days, a robber was captured violently robbing a foreigner of her sling bag and escaping on a motorcycle as a second pillion passenger," DCI said.

"The DCI deployed a team of detectives to pursue what was evidently a well-coordinated gang that targeted pedestrians on the walkways."

The DCI identified the suspect as Samuel Ndungo Waweru, a member of the gang believed to have established its base around Mogas Petrol Station on Jogoo Road.

Police said his accomplices have since been identified and put on police radar as a manhunt continues.
