28 ODM MPs to face disciplinary action over Finance Bill vote

ODM says it's in receipt of many complaints from its general membership

The Orange Democratic Movement party has commenced disciplinary proceedings for MPs who defied the party's stand on Finance Bill.

In a statement on Thursday, ODM said the Party is in receipt of many complaints from its general membership regarding the conduct of its MPs during Wednesday's vote on the Finance Bill, 2023.

"In line with the Party's disciplinary rules, notices to show cause disciplinary action should not be taken have been issued to the members. They are expected to respond within the next 48 hours," the statement read.

The members who will face the disciplinary committee include those who voted in favour of the Bill and those who were marked absent during the second reading of the controversial Bill.

The ODM members who voted in favour of the bill include Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Aden Mohamed (Wajir South), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem) and Caroli Omondi (Suba South).

MPs who were absent during the voting include John Mbadi nominated MP, Said Buya Hiribae (Galole), Mohamed Abdikadir Hussein (Lagdera),  Paul Ekwom Nabuin (Turkana North) and John Namoit Ariko (Turkana South).

Others are Hamisi Kakuta Maimai (Kajiaodo East), Parashina Samuel Sakimba (Kajiado South), Titus Khamala Mukhawana (Lurambi), Johnson Naicca Manya (Mumias West), Peter Oscar Nabulindo (Matungu) and Nicholas Scott Tindi Mwale (Butere).

Other MPs on the list include Christopher Wangaya Aseka (Khwisero),  Joseph Marro Oyula (Butula), Wilberforce Ojambo Oundo ( Funyula) and Gideon Ochanda Ogolla (Bondo).
