National Assembly Minority Whip, Junet Mohamed has set the record straight on why they Azimio MPs have opted to walk out of the Budget statement reading by Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung'u.
According to Junet, the opposition does not believe in the budget estimates being presented by the Treasury Cabinet Secretary.
He said that the budget estimate is meant for the Kenya Kwanza administration and not the people of Kenya.
"We have walked out because Azimio does not believe in this budget. They don't think this is a budget meant for the Kenyan people. This is a budget meant for the Kenya Kwanza government," he said.
Junet insisted that the only way they can be part of the process is if it is tailored to meet the expectations of ordinary Kenyans.
"So, until we get a budget founded on the premise of Kenyan people, we will not participate."
On Thursday, Azimio MPs walked out of the National Assembly after Treasury and National Planning CS Njuguna Ndung'u stood up to read his budget statement.
The MPs also booed at the CS as he continued reading the budget before they walked out.
Ndung'u continued reading the budget statement under the direction of Speaker Moses Wetang'ula.
The Azimio walkout was spearheaded by Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi.
