Tana River MCA Hamisi Idd dies in grisly road accident

A Member of Tana River County Assembly died in a grisly road accident in Kanagoni area on the Garsen-Malindi highway on Saturday morning, police said.

Hamisi Idd, the MCA for the Chewani ward in Tana River County died on the spot following the accident.

Coast police boss Tom Kimani said police are investigating the incident.

He said the body was taken to a mortuary in Malindi.

UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala condoling with the family said the incident has robbed his family, friends, relatives, and the people of Tana River, a leader, father, husband, and friend from whom the hope of a better future was guaranteed.

"May Allah grant his soul Jannah. Innalillahi Wanna Illeihi Rajiun," Malala wrote on his Facebook account.

Idd was a first-term county elected MCA under a UDA party ticket.

Before his election, he served as a bodyguard for the governor of Tana River.
