Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has commended Water, Sanitation and Irrigation CS Alice Wahome for clearing the air over the tussle regarding the occupancy of a house in Karen, Nairobi.
Wahome on Saturday clarified that she was not involved in the fight over the tenancy of the Sh120 million house in the leafy suburb that is home to several senior state officials.
The CS said she was not scouting for a new home and should not be associated with the controversy.
"Look for someone else. I'm not the one. I'm not looking for a house to live in," she said in a statement.
Her clarification followed speculation online over the identity of the member of Cabinet who the owner of the house says has already moved in without neither committing to buy the house nor sign a tenancy agreement.
Without giving the name, Maria Mureu told Citizen TV on Friday night that the CS moved into the house while she was away on a foreign trip with her husband two weeks ago.
"That story of a house in Karen involving a CS, leave me out. I'm not the one. Sorry, Kenyans on Twitter. You missed this one," Wahome said.
Ahmednasir said it was commendable for the Water CS to put the record straight and wondered who among the remaining female CSs in Ruto's Cabinet would follow suit.
"CS Alice Wahome should be commended for putting the record straight. How many more do we have to go? After all, we have only 6 to 7 good ladies in the Cabinet...Next," he said.
Besides Wahome, other female members in Ruto's Cabinet include Aisha Jumwa (Public Service and Gender), Rebecca Miano (EAC), Peninah Malonza (Tourism), Florence Bore (Labour), Susan Nakhumicha (Health) and Soipan Tuya (Environment and Forestry).
Others are the National Security Adviser and Secretary to the National Security Council Monica Juma, Secretary to the Cabinet, Mercy Wanjau and Presidential Advisor on Women Harriet Chiggai.
