A showdown looms in the National Assembly as members debate on the Finance Bill, 2023 on Tuesday.

Several lawmakers are this afternoon expected to find themselves caught between a rock and a hard place as the controversial Finance Bill enters the crucial voting stage where they have to make the final decision.

The voting of the Bill will be proceeding to the final reading stage in Parliament.

Both President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga have put their lieutenants on notice that they would be under watch to see which way they would vote on the Bill.

MPs to begin probe on NHIF, Kemsa procurement scams

The National Assembly will on Tuesday begin its investigations on health issues.

The Departmental Committee on Health will engage with Kemsa to address alleged irregularities in the procurement process and the cancellation of long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets.

It will also hold a meeting with NHIF officials to discuss various national issues including the non-remittance of NHIF capitations to hospitals providing services to cardholders.

Police probe murder of NYS personnel in Yatta

Detectives are investigating the murder of a National Youth Service personnel whose body was found on a farm in the area.

The body of Simon Nganga, 22, was found lying near a water pump at Vegegro Kenya Limited Farm in the area on June 18.

He was in his official uniform at the time the body was found.

It is not yet clear who was behind his murder and the motive but police said they are investigating the matter.

Hearing of Kianjokoma brothers murder case resumes

The hearing of a case in which six police officers are charged with the murder of two Kianjokoma brothers resumes today with the court expected to issue fresh directions.

Police officers Benson Mputhia, Consolata Kariuki, Nicholas Cheruyoit, Martin Wanyama, Lilian Chemuna, and James Mwaniki have been charged with the murders of Benson Ndwiga and his brother Emmanuel Ndwiga.

Kenya to host the 25th Africa Energy Forum

Kenya is set to host the prestigious Africa Energy Forum (AEF)  this year.

The event will take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi, from June 20 to June 23.

The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, in collaboration with Energynet, are the organizers of this energy forum in the country.
